Jon Matte

Jon Matte started his professional career in software, working as a software developer for Tandem Computers back in the 1980s and 1990s. He relocated to Portland, Oregon, in 1995, and after two more years in software changed careers and joined the futures industry.
He founded Defender Capital Management, Inc in 1997. The company operated first as an Introducing Broker and then as a Commodity Trading Advisor, trading 30-year Treasury Bond, Eurodollar, Canadian Dollar and Sugar #11 futures. The company closed down due to internal conflicts in 2004, and its intellectual property was sold to JJLCO.
After Defender, Jon took a couple of years off, working on independent projects and taking on occasional non-futures jobs to support that temporary independence.
In August of 2007, he accepted an offer from John Lothian to return to the futures industry and lend his speedy typing skills and software experience to creating MarketsWiki. He worked closely with John and the rest of the MarketsWiki team to create the infrastructure and initial contribution standards. He continues to provide article content, debugging help to other contributors, and ninja-style editing forays into existing pages.
In his capacity as COO, Jon works with sponsors of the MarketsWiki project, steps in as backup editor of the John Lothian Newsletter, and furnishes JJLCO with assistance and trading data to support the company's managed futures activity.
